College Students on Summer-Long Missions in Two Cities, One US Territory
This summer FBCO sent out three FBCO colleges students who worked in short-term missions in the US and Puerto Rico.
Anna Atherton, Brooklyn Graham, and Jessalyn Scheltens were on-site in various missions activities in Cincinnati, Denver, and Puerto Rico for eight weeks each.
Anna, daughter of senior pastor Dr. Mike Atherton and Sarah, worked with FBCO partner Inspiring Hope Church in Hamilton, OH—a Cincinnati suburban. She assisted their various ministries and helped host mission teams visiting the church. Anna also served Pathway to Hope Pregnancy Center, which helps save lives in the Greater Cincinnati area. The missions work supported Anna’s academic studies at Hannibal LaGrange University, where she is a senior in fall 2022.
Brooklynn Graham, daughter of FBCO members Ben and Debbie Graham, served in Puerto Rico with GenSend, a church planting program of the SBC’s North American Mission Board. Brooklyn worked with a local church plant that’s reaching people with the Gospel. She also helped local disaster relief efforts from hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017. Brooklyn is in her senior year at the Spurgeon College of Midwest Baptist Theological Seminary.
Jessalynn Scheltens is the daughter of Children’s Minister Andrew Scheltens and his wife Jessica. Jessalyn worked with FBCO’s Denver partner, Cross Family Church, in church planting and other ministry areas. She also assisted our youth missions team when it visited in June. Jessalyn is a junior at Missouri Baptist University.
