2022 Missions Opportunities

First Baptist’s opportunities to participate in mission activities include not only short-term mission trips, below but also local projects through individual LIFE groups, ministry groups, and academy classes. The following is a partial list of mission projects as some trips and events are still to be scheduled. Love Packages Day Mission Trip: Feb. 5. (FULL. This trip has the necessary number of participants. No further registrations are being accepted.) This trip for senior adults involves sorting, processing, and packing recycled Bible literature and other resources to be sent to overseas ministries.

Scotland Mission Trip: Mar. 18-26. (FULL. This trip has the necessary number of participants. No further registrations are being accepted.) Activities include public school classes with art and music projects, other youth programs, and local ministry with our church partners in Girvan and Stranraer.
GROW Outreach each Tuesday begins Mar. 15 and runs through Oct. 18, 2022. FBCO seeks to touch our community and provide needs through door-to-door contacts, letter writing, and prayer for visitors to our church and new residents.

Mexico Mission Trip: Mar. 31-Apr. 7, 2022. FBCO is currently registering interest in our return trip to southern Mexico to work with missionaries Clay and Tammy Richardson. The trip focuses on re-establishing our presence in the village of Chiapas following 2021’s absence due to COVID restrictions. We will install additional water filtration units and work with the young, local church.

Cincinnati Mission Trip: Apr. 4-10, 2022. FBCO will support the community outreach of Inspiring Hope Church, a new work that launched on Easter 2021 in suburban Hamilton, OH. We expect activities to be similar to 2021 trips: doing door-to-door neighborhood visits, working with IHC’s local ministry partners, and hosting school and youth programs.

Israel Mission Trip: Apr. 21-May 1, 2022. Working with Baptist Village, we’ll do light construction and painting projects on their housing facilities. There will be an opportunity to tour parts of Israel during this trip.

Mexico Mission Trip: May 23-30, 2022. Our second trip of the year to Chiapas, Mexico includes visiting homes and prepping for VBS, which will be held during the July trip.

Denver Mission Trip: Jun. 11-18, 2022. FBCO will host a five-day soccer camp for the community and touch neighborhoods through door-to-door canvassing with our Parker, CO partner—Cross Family Church. This trip is primarily for students.

O’Fallon Heritage and Freedom Festival: Jul. 2-4, 2022. During our community’s popular Fourth of July festival FBCO will operate an on-site facility where young mothers can comfortably take care of their babies’ needs.

Mexico Mission Trip: Jul. 8-16, 2022. We’ll continue supporting missionaries Clay and Tammy Richardson in Chiapas. The primary activity of this summer trip is VBS for the village’s children.

East St. Louis Mission Trip: Jul. 25-29, 2022. For several years FBCO has supported the Christian Activity Center in East St. Louis by performing labor projects. Our summer 2022 trip may include routine maintenance, outdoor landscaping, facilities clean-up and organization, and working with children. This trip is appropriate for adults and families.

Engage O’Fallon: Aug. 1-6, 2022. Our church will reach out to our community by prayer-walking areas of the city, going door-to-door in subdivisions, and performing mission activities in nearby schools and neighborhoods. The week finishes up with Operation Backpack: a ministry to provide school supplies to local families in need. Engage O’Fallon activities allow all ages to participate in some aspect.

Netherlands Missions Trip: Aug. 27-Sep. 4. The FBCO team will assist a new church plant in Rotterdam. Potential activities may include developing art/craft projects, sharing testimonies, caring for children, and/or hosting a community block party. The team may also work in casual settings with Muslim immigrants.

Global Missions Celebration: Sep. 18-25, 2022. GMC, an annual highlight on FBCO’s calendar, includes hearing missionaries and representatives from our local, national, and international ministry partners discuss their ministry activities. The Taste & See evening is an enjoyable introduction to the unique local foods of our partners. LIFE groups and Academy classes have one-on-one Q&A sessions with ministries. We also announce the new missions opportunities for the following year.

Cincinnati Mission Trip: Oct. 10-17. Activities of this week-long trip will be similar to the spring schedule.

Mexico Mission Trip: Oct. 28-Nov. 5, 2022. The fourth and last Mexico trip of the year includes home visits and Bible studies.

Love Packages Single Day Mission Trip (possible fall 2022): This trip will be similar to the February trip.

O’Fallon Ft. Zumwalt Walk Through the Park (early December 2022): Church volunteers serve our community during its annual seasonal light festival at nearby Ft. Zumwalt Park. During the event’s two nights, FBCO volunteers help visitors with parking, direct them to shuttle buses, and offer festival-goers complementary hot chocolate before and after their visits. Students, young adults, and seniors may volunteer to help.
