2022 Missions Opportunities

FBCO opportunities missions activities include not only the below short-term trips, but also local projects through individual LIFE groups, ministry groups, and academy classes. The following is a partial list of mission projects as some trips and events are still to be scheduled. Unless noted, short-term trips are open for any adults. GROW Outreach Runs each Tuesday through Oct. 18, 2022. FBCO seeks to touch our community and provide needs through door-to-door contacts, letter writing, and prayer for visitors to our church and new and current residents.

Love Packages Day Mission Trip: Feb. 7. (Completed) This trip for senior adults involved sorting, processing, and packing recycled Bible literature and other resources for overseas ministries. Read about a previous Love Packages trip here.

Scotland Mission Trip: Mar. 18-26. (Completed) Activities included public school classes with art and music projects, other youth programs, and local ministry with our church partner, Milestone Christian Fellowship, in Girvan. Read the report of the trip here.

Cincinnati Mission Trip: Apr. 4-10, 2022. (Completed) The FBCO team supported the community outreach of Inspiring Hope Church, a new work that launched on Easter 2021 in suburban Hamilton, OH. Activities included completing community projects from earlier outreach activities, meeting residents in door-to-door neighborhood visits, updating a mission house, and working with an IHC local ministry partner. Mexico Mission Trip: Apr. 14-21, 2022. (Completed) FBCO returned to southern Mexico to work with IMB missionaries Clay and Tammy Richardson. The trip focused on re-establishing a presence in the village of Chiapas following 2021’s absence due to COVID restrictions. Read about the trip here soon.

Love Packages Day Mission Trip: May 23, 2002. (Completed) This trip for senior adults to the Butler, IL organization included sorting, processing, and packing recycled Bible literature and other resources for overseas ministries.

Mexico Mission Trip: May 24-31, 2022. (Completed) Our second trip of the year to Chiapas, Mexico included visiting homes and prepping for VBS, which will be held during the July trip.

Israel Mission Trip: June 1-11, 2022. (Completed) Working with two organizations–the Jerusalem Prayer Center and Baptist Village–two teams did light construction and painting projects on facilities. The trip included some Israel sightseeing.

Denver Mission Trip: Jun. 11-18, 2022. (Completed) This trip for high school students includes hosting a five-day soccer camp for the community and touching neighborhoods through door-to-door canvassing with our Parker, CO partner—Cross Family Church.

O’Fallon Heritage and Freedom Festival: Jul. 2-4, 2022. (Volunteers needed) During the community’s popular Fourth of July festival FBCO operates an on-site facility where young mothers can comfortably care for their babies’ needs. Women are needed to staff the air-conditioned tent and assist mothers.

Mexico Mission Trip: Jul. 8-16, 2022. (FULL) College students are invited on this trip to support missionaries Clay and Tammy Richardson in Chiapas. The primary activity is hosting VBS for local children.

Love Packages Day Mission Trip: July 18, 2022. During this day trip for sixth-grade students volunteers will sort and pack recycled Bibles, study resources, and other materials to be used by overseas missions organizations. Volunteer cap: 20.

Love Packages Day Mission Trip: July 21, 2022. This trip for seventh-graders will perform the same tasks as the July 18 event. Volunteer cap: 20.

Missions Week: Aug. 1-5, 2022. Multiple missions projects occur simultaneously at three sites. We will work at the Christian Activity Center in East St. Louis, IL; Hannibal LaGrange University in Hannibal, MO; and, Love Packages in Butler, IL. Each event is open to families, teens, and adults. (For 2022, Missions Week replaces Engage O’Fallon.) East St. Louis Activities: Aug. 1-5, 2022 day trips. Teams to the Christian Activity Center in East St. Louis will help improve the facilities. Activities may include routine maintenance, outdoor landscaping, facilities clean-up and organization, and working with children. No cost. Limited to 15 volunteers per day. Hannibal, MO Activities: Aug. 1, 3, and 5 day trips (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) day trips. Volunteers will deep clean student dorms at Hannibal LaGrange University. No cost. Limited to 10-12 participants per day. Butler, IL Activities: Aug. 2 and 4 day trips (Tuesday, Thursday). Teams return to Love Packages to prep Bible and study materials for distribution to overseas ministries. No cost. Limited to 10 volunteers each day.

Netherlands Missions Trip: (Postponed to 2023. Check back for updates.) The FBCO team will assist a new church plant in Rotterdam. Potential activities may include community events and activities with children and Muslim immigrants, particularly women.

Global Missions Celebration: Sep. 18-25, 2022. GMC, an annual highlight on FBCO’s calendar, includes hearing missionaries and representatives from our local, national, and international ministry partners discuss their activities. The Taste & See evening is an enjoyable introduction to the unique local foods of our partners’ communities. LIFE groups and Academy classes host one-on-one Q&A sessions with ministries. FBCO also announces its missions opportunities for the following year.

Cincinnati Mission Trip: Oct. 3-9. Activities of this trip back to Hamilton, OH will include neighborhood canvassing and service projects.

Mexico Mission Trip: Oct. 28-Nov. 5, 2022. The fourth and last Mexico trip of the year includes home visits and Bible studies.

Anticipated but Unscheduled Activities:

O’Fallon Ft. Zumwalt Walk Through the Park Each December our volunteers serve the community during the annual seasonal light festival at nearby Ft. Zumwalt Park. During the event’s two walk-through nights, FBCO volunteers help visitors with parking, direct them to shuttle buses, and offer them complementary hot chocolate before and after their visits. Students, young adults, and seniors can volunteer for this activity.
